#DidYouKnow Graeme Sharp

"The Super Sub & Strategy"

Apart from the usual cases of replacing a tired or injured player, substitutions are used as a winning tactic by many teams and coaches around the world. Sharp stresses that sometimes, the game demands a change in strategy, which means that players who specialise in certain skills, are called in at later stages to save the game. Sharp himself has more than once been “the super-sub,” scoring last minute goals for his team.

This is like trading. When the markets change direction, traders may need to alter their strategies to succeed. Pro traders often have a backup plan, or a plan B reserved for such occasions. This might also include taking profits earlier than originally planned to avoid any risk of losing all their capital. Sounds complicated? That’s why Blackwell Global provides a free education centre for traders looking to make the best market decisions.

Everton Legend & Club Ambassador

Born in 1960, Graeme Sharp is a former Scottish football player. He played as a striker for a number of Premier League clubs, apart from Everton, including Dumbarton, Oldham Athletic and Bangor City. His stint with Everton, however, has gone down in club history as the most successful of all. Sharp was a part of Everton when the team won the English Football League Championships in 1985 and 1987. He was also a part of the victorious FA Cup brigade in 1984, and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1985.

He was responsible for the first ever win that Everton had at Anfield, since 1970. Sharp was also a part of the team for the 1986 and 1989 FA Cup finals; although the team lost these games. He was, in fact, part of the golden era of Everton Club, which led to his inclusion in the “Greatest Ever Team” on the occasion of the club’s 125th anniversary.

Internationally, Sharpe played for Scotland 12 times from 1985 to 1988, including during the World Cup 1986. He was the manager of Bangor City, in the League of Wales, leading the club to the Welsh Cup victory in 1998.
